First, collect all supplies. Wash and dry the metal cans, then apply a primer of white acrylic paint to the large bean can. Set aside to dry and apply a second coat if necessary. Prime the small vegetable jar with black acrylic paint. Set aside to dry and apply a second coat if necessary.
Paint a three-inch band of green acrylic paint around the top of the large can of beans. Download, print, and cut out Tin Can Leprechaun and Pot of Gold Patterns. Draw the face pattern on the large bean can and paint it with your choice of flesh-colored acrylic paint. Paint the rest of the large bean can with orange acrylic craft paint.
Let the paints dry completely and, if necessary, apply a second layer of the green, skin-colored and orange acrylic paints.
Draw the hat brim pattern on green craft foam with a pencil or marker. Draw the mustache pattern on orange craft foam with a pencil or marker. Cut out the pattern with scissors.
Slide the brim of the hat onto the can where the green paint ends. The ribs in the can hold the brim in place, but you can use glue to secure it in place. Use a glue gun and glue sticks to attach the googly eyes, button nose, and mustache to the goblin’s face.
Halve three orange chenille stalks and then halve again. Twist each of the twelve pieces of the orange chenille stem into peg shapes. Attach to the goblin’s orange beard with a glue gun and glue sticks.
Glue a rainbow ribbon around the leprechaun to create a hat band. Measure and cut a 1-inch square from gold glitter craft foam. Fold in half and cut a smaller square out of the middle to make a buckle. Glue the buckle onto the center front of the leprechaun hat.
Twist two black chenille stalks together. Wrap the top of the small Pot of Gold vegetable jar and twist to secure it. Bend the remaining part of the chenille stem into a handle and twist it to attach to the opposite side of the gold pot.
Draw a circular pattern on the back of the golden glitter craft foam and then cut it out with scissors. Fill the Pot of Gold with scraps of crinkle paper or tissue paper, then add the gold glitter craft foam coins.
